Learn more about the origins of Atlas Project, who we are and what we're looking to achieve.
Origins of Atlas Project.
Atlas Project came to be after two friends from school, pitched each other their business ideas. Never did they expect the other to come up with a similar idea, at a similar time. Whilst initially considering to particiapte in each other's business, they then settled on developing a singular business, with two unqiue services. (On a side note, we're very excited to announce that our second service will be available in the second-half of 2023).
We believe in the power of stories. That's why we wanted the foundations of our business to have a deep, meaningful chronicle. Why Atlas Project? For those of you that are old enough to remember using one (sorry Gen Z), before the digital age and smartphones, people used Atlas's. These were typically large, bound books which were a collection of maps. These would range in size and scale, some displaying the entire world, others focusing on more specific areas. Atlas's are synonymous with depicting the Earth; our home.
There's also another tale behind our name which stemS from Greek Mythology. More specifically, the Titan, Atlas. During the war between the Titan's and God's, Atlas was one of the most powerful and feared Titans. After losing the war, as a form of punishment, Zeus condemned Atlas to forever hold the weight of the Heavens (the Sky). In many depictions, he is seen holding the Earth on his shoulders, in a hunched over position. Atlas had the strength to carry the heavens on his shoulders, and we believe, with your help, that we can and should all carry the weight of the Earth on ours.
Who are we?
Our names are Stanley and Edward. We attended Maidstone Grammar School together and have been friends since 2010. Despite having attended seperate Universities, studied seperate subjects and worked in different roles, we have both maintained a desire to do good and understood the global repercussions that could happen, should planet Earth not be looked after.
What do we want to achieve?
We're making a bold statement. Like Atlas in Greek Mythology, we too want to be the foundation for supporting the Earth and keeping it alive. That's why we're taking on the responsibility of holding the Earth's weight on our shoulders.
Regardless of your position in society, everyone can play their part and help fight the global climate change issue. We urge you and invite you to do so. We've many exciting plans for the future, so stayed tuned to hear some of our latest updates.
